Umoja Festival

Virginia’s oldest African American heritage celebration, the Umoja Festival is in it’s 31st year. It kicks off with the opening ceremonies where the Elders give permission to host the festival. From there, it’s non stop music. Ethnic foods, a marketplace of sculptures, paintings, prints, baskets, quilts and other assorted hand-crafted wares contribute to the ambiance of the Festival.
The festival is FREE to the public and all are welcome. This year’s entertainment line up includes:
