Court Street Baptist Church
447 Court St. • (757) 393-2312
Court Street Baptist Church, founded in 1789, was burned down and rebuilt in1901 of pink granite quarried in Salisbury, N. C. This church is one of only two Baptist churches in this exuberant Romanesque Revival style in the nation. The other is in Tennessee. The stained glass is also exceptional in its design, with yellow and shocking pink predominating. The windows go up the stairwells to the towers. When hit by full sunlight this creates a golden glow in the church that is quite unique. If you would like a tour of the sanctuary, please stop in the office from 8-4 Monday through Friday and someone will gladly assist you.
