Cedar Grove Cemetery

Cedar Grove Cemetery was established in 1832 and is the city’s first secular cemetery. About 4,000 souls are buried here on about 5 1/3rd acres. The cemetery is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
In 2006, a handful of local volunteers formed the Portsmouth Cedar Grove Cemetery Foundation to restore headstones, make improvements, beautify, and educate the public about this important historic Portsmouth site.
