Plant and Pumpkin sale at St. John’s Church

Plant and Pumpkin sale at St. John’s Church

Oct 2, 2021 8:30 am - Oct 2, 2021 2:30 pm

St. John’s Church Women’s Ministry (AWE) invites you to a plant and pumpkin sale on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm in front of our historic worship space at 424 Washington Street. The street will be closed for this event to accommodate the display of a variety of fall and winter plants and a wonderful assortment of pumpkins and gourds in various colors, sizes and textures.

We will offer donuts and coffee for sale in the morning and barbeque for lunch.

We also are excited to announce that the St. John’s Little Free Library will be unveiled that day in front of the Memorial Garden wall at 11 am. Several speakers and city officials will be present to participate in this long-awaited event.

Mike Rush, the crafter of this library, will be on hand to talk about his research and construction. St. John’s original building, a small Greek Revival structure on Court Street just north of London, was Mike’s inspiration for the library’s design. Father Derek will share some anecdotes about our congregation as they worshipped in this space from 1850-1898.

This link (https://coloursofus.com/multicultural-2021-ala-award-winning-childrens-ya-books/) provides a number of American Library Association award-winning children’s multicultural books we would like to place in the library for the initial unveiling.  If you can purchase one of these featured books, please bring it with you on October 2. You also are encouraged to bring any other books, fiction or nonfiction, you wish to donate as we add to the library’s stock in the coming weeks and months.

If you have questions about this event or the library, please contact Doreen Sheler at dsheler@cox.net or by phone at 757-285-7034.
