Opening Reception: To Face the Unknown

Jul 7, 2017 5:00 pm - Jul 7, 2017 8:00 pm

The anniversary of the Great War will see the opening of an exhibit focusing on how WWI changed Portsmouth through phenomenal growth and experiences relating to the home front efforts; women in the war effort; new housing communities; and the way the military installations in Portsmouth grew and changed to support the war—installations like the St. Juliens Creek Ammunition Depot, which expanded to become the place where tens of thousands of sea mines were filled and shipped.  Light refreshments will be served as the classic rock band More Cowbell entertains visitors with seven band members, including one of Portsmouth’s First Citizens, Don Comer.  Mr. Comer is head of PortsEvents which sponsors the Concert in the Courtyardseries, along with Towne Bank, Portsmouth Economic Development, and The Portsmouth Partnership.  His event is free and open to the public.

Parking is free after 6:00 p.m.
