Stop by the Portsmouth Welcome Center for all the information, maps, and brochures you will need to ensure you Celebrate the District! There will be a free shuttle available from noon to 4 pm that runs every 20 minutes.

Children’s Museum of Virginia – All tickets are $5 and must be reserved in advance online, including member tickets.

Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center Courtyard – 11 am – 2 pm High & Court Streets
MIXING THE RAINBOW – Sit among the trees in this historic courtyard and enjoy colorful painting demonstrations by two local artists as well as a make-n-take painting art activity.

Wall Street Mural Festival 12 – 7 pm High & Hatton Streets
Celebrate the artists and subcultures that have made street art what it is today. Watch muralists meet the challenge to paint 10 walls in the alleyway of Portsmouth’s “Wall Street” as they compete for cash awards. Shop local artists, creators, makers and vendors at their pop-up booths onsite at the Wall Street Marketplace. To make the fun complete, enjoy a DJ, paint-by-number mural, arcade games, a food truck, beer, wine, and refreshments that are available for purchase.

Portsmouth Cultural Arts District Walking Tour 11 am and 2 pm
Leave from the Portsmouth Welcome Center and stroll the tree-lined streets for a 1-mile, 30-minute guided tour along 5 blocks of the High Street corridor passing 18 pieces of public art.
Middle Street Spring Market sponsored by That Art Store 10 am – 3 pm 510 Middle Street
Shop over 20 vendors and authors and find the perfect last-minute gift for Mom!
5th Annual Portsmouth Palooza sponsored by Olde Towne Arts & Music
During the Middle Street Spring Market, you can relax and enjoy a music “Palooza”, a charity event to help the homeless, which brings together favorite local musicians including the Southside Community Band, Olde Towne Arts & Music Children’s Chorus, and more. Donations of non-perishable personal care items will be accepted for the Men of St. Joseph who support local homeless residents.
May Fest at The Bier Garden
There is free parking in the city garages located at 550 Water Street or 441 Middle Street. There is also parking beside The Portsmouth Colored Community Library Museum and the Hill House Museum.
