4Arts Festival to Replace Gosport Arts Festival Mother’s Day Weekend

Do you love the arts? Music? Autographed books? Have you ever wanted to meet the author who wrote your book? Here is your opportunity! Come watch art being created and enjoy great local music and entertainment. We hope you will come enjoy all that Olde Towne has to offer!
* Orzo Studio will have Raku firing and kiln demonstrations in their courtyard
* Urban Sketchers and local Plein-air artists will be demonstating their art in various locations throughout the Olde Towne Business district
* Support Portsmouth Public Art will have their annual “Gently Viewed” Art Sale at 304 High Street
* The Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center is showing “Embracing Narrative: Artwork of the Washington Glass School & Virginia Glass Guild” as well as presenting “Market Music & Art” featuring the Who We Are Not Trio and lampwork glass demonstrations by Emily Williams from 10:00 am – 1:30 pm
* Visual Arts Center at TCC Gallery features “Breaking Barriers: Glass Work by TCC Grads and Chrysler Assistants”
* Skipjack Nautical Wares & Marine Art Gallery will be featuring its 12th Annual Marine Folk Art Show, presenting a folksy collection of mermaids, whales, fish, fowl, carvings, trade signs, sailor art, nautical and scrimshaw
* Local historian Dean Burgess will give tours of Trinity Episcopal Church, the oldest church in Portsmouth
* Sidewalk chalk art contest
* Face PaintingLiterary Arts:
* A wide range of local authors and genres including children’s authors, historic fiction set in Olde Towne, a mother-daughter team and best selling author Denise Jeffries will be signing books

* The Olde Towne Farmer’s Market will be open 9 – 1
* The Olde Towne Courtesy Shuttle will provide transportation between shops
* Free parking will be available in the city garages on Middle and County Streets.
We would like to add that the Gosport Arts Festival has been on this weekend for over 40 years and we are all hopeful that it will return next year. In the meantime, we welcome you to continue the tradition of enjoying the arts in Olde Towne on Mother’s Day weekend.
