Movement & Light is a multi-year project by Pam Ponce, a Virginia Beach artist who has spent several seasons photographing an environmental treasure of barrier islands and lagoon landscapes located off Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The islands provide vital habitats to numerous birds and marine species and protect coastal communities from storm surges and flooding and are an area where universities and conservation groups study the coastal processes to develop models for adapting to climate change.
