Market Day in Olde Towne 

Saturday, May 7 from 9 am – 3 pm 

Bring Mom and come celebrate spring in Olde Towne! With 4 market locations, live  music, dancing, art, local authors, crafters, and more you will enjoy a day to remember!  You can also visit our specialty shops and chef-owned restaurants to enjoy all Olde  Towne has to offer!  

Portsmouth Olde Towne Farmers Market ~ 9 am – 2 pm ~ High & Court Streets  Come enjoy shopping for seasonal fresh produce, artisan breads, baked goods, beef,  poultry, eggs, and seafood, jams and jellies, salsas and sauces, plants and flowers, hand crafted soaps and more. Looking for a breakfast, lunch, or a snack? Enjoy grilled  heirloom meat products, a coffee bar, teas, pastries, and other ready-to-eat food items.  Something new every week! Painting Your Hearts Out Event & Gently Viewed Art Sale ~ 9 am – 2 pm ~ High  & Green Streets  

Come out and shop at the HUGE Gently Viewed Art Sale! Many of the pieces of art for  sale were donated by the estate of Ida Kay Jordan, former Virginian-Pilot writer who  was one of the original members of Support Portsmouth Public Art. You can shop for  beautiful pottery and all types of wall art priced to sell. 

You can also enjoy watching local artists as they honor Mother Earth! Artists can  register and get all the details at https://bit.ly/PaintingYourHeartsOut. The $10  registration fee is collected on the day of the event. Artists must complete their art  

during the event for the chance to win $300 in prize money. Two mural boards & paint  will be provided for visitors to join the fun. Since kids of all ages love art, there will also be supplies for creating sidewalk chalk art! Free lemonade and cookies will be served.

Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center  

First Saturday Presents Creative Thunder Bantaba ~ 10 am – 12 pm West African culture comes to life as Tidewater African Cultural Alliance and Atumpan  Dance Theatre combine their collective skills in traditional West African music, song,  and dance. The performance is a passport to Ghana and Guinea West Africa, allowing  visitors to travel to the Gold Coast and Niger River Valley on a flight of movement and  music. Visitors can join in the experience by learning traditional Ghanaian and Malinke  dances while also becoming part of the percussion orchestra. As part of the First  Saturday events this event is FREE, as well as admission to the Portsmouth Art &  Cultural Center and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum from 10 am – 4 pm. 

Olde Towne Antique & Flea Market ~ 10 am – 2 pm ~ Middle Street Garage Visit the Olde Towne Antique & Flea Market and enjoy the eclectic collection of unique and antique wares. With more than 70 vendors, there is a great selection of antique and  flea market items of all types – priced to sell! Shop for estate furniture, architectural  salvage, china, silverware, art, sports gear, musical instruments, books and ephemera,  hand-made crafts and toys, as well as decorative accessories and one-of-a-kind items. A  favorite of locals and visitors alike, it is a treasure hunter’s dream come true! 

Olde Towne Spring Market ~ 11 am – 3 pm ~ Middle Street Mall (beside the  Children’s Museum) 

The Crafters’ Market features 30 local artisans and authors selling jewelry, fabric art,  candles, woodworking, and more! Many of your favorite local authors will be there  signing books. Also enjoy live music all day by local favorites such as the Summer  Jones Band and the Southside Community Band as they participate in Portsmouth  Palloza, sponsored by Olde Towne Arts & Music. This day of music is an annual  fundraiser for the non-profit, Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless. 

The Olde Towne Shuttle will be available to carry visitors at no cost.
