The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race

The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race promotes awareness of the Chesapeake Bay, maritime heritage and encourages preservation and improvement of the bay’s ecosystem. The public is invited to watch the Schooners as they arrive on Friday between noon and 4pm; however, all schooners will be available for external viewing the entire weekend.
Schooners may be viewed dockside in Portsmouth on Saturday. Some may be open for tours. Saturday enjoy the Sailors’ Evening and Sea Chantey Sing-along at 9:00 pm. This is a public gathering at North Landing Park for captains, crew, sponsors, volunteers and enthusiasts who want to enjoy some rousing – and sometimes bawdy – sea chanteys.
